The Burundi Gakenke is a seasonal microlot from the Gakenke Washing Station, nestled in the highlands of Kayanza along Burundi's northern border with Rwanda. Grown by more than 2,600 smallholder farmers — each tending around 250 trees on less than a tenth of a hectare — this coffee is a testament to what community processing done right can produce.

After harvest, cherries are delivered to the washing station, depulped the same day, fermented underwater for 12–24 hours, washed, then dried on raised beds for approximately 20 days. The result is a beautifully clean, vibrant cup. Aromas of raisin, maple, and black tea give way to bright grapefruit and ripe blackberry flavors, rounded out by brown sugar sweetness and a crisp lime finish.
