The coffee-growing region of Atitlan is well known for its high altitude and volcanic soil. These qualities give this coffee its distinctive flavor profile. It is aromatic with a crisp and pronounced acidity and has sweet, fruity notes. The body is medium-full, and the finish is long and lingering.
The Finca Alto Refugio farm cultivates a mixture of Bourbon, Typica, Red and Yellow Caturra, and Catuai varietals. The coffee is shaded predominantly by avocado and grevillea trees, providing an additional income stream for the farm.
