More Info
Kilimanjaro Plantation has been growing and producing coffee since 1955 on the southern slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. They were one of the first single-origin large scale coffee producers in Tanzania. Since then, they have dedicated their lives to cultivating and producing the best high-quality Arabica in Tanzania.
The family that owns Kilimanjaro Plantation has over 3 generations of coffee growers in the family and is also involved throughout the entire process, from growing, to distribution and trading. Currently, Kilimanjaro employs 350 people, including a general manager and in-house Q-Grader. Colton Rabenold is the General Manager and has spent over 20 years living and working in Agribusiness throughout East Africa. Colton’s day to day activities involve organization and management of a wide range of activities, from acquiring field inputs, seedling selection, to pruning, picking, and processing of cherry. Flora Chengula is their in-house Q-Grader, trained in the USA and with over a decade in the quality assurance field. She ensures that all coffee is chosen specifically and bulked according to specific customer preferences.
Located in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, Lyamungo is one of four farms that make up the Africa Plantation Kilimanjaro estate. The estate is owned by Alejandro Galante, a coffee farmer from Antioquia, Colombia, with each farm managed individually. 95% of APKs production is washed, though recent experimentation has led to more honey and natural processing occurring. Drying is done on raised beds, where APK employees carefully monitor the moisture level of each lot to ensure even drying.
